D5 Design has been named as Innovation & Creativity Partner of the Year by Oaklands College. The award was presented at the Oaklands Training & Development Employer and Apprenticeships Celebration Event 2025, which took place at the Borehamwood campus on Monday 23 June 2025.
During the 2024/2025 academic year, D5 Design partnered with Oaklands College on multiple occasions, offering over 100 Science, Engineering and ITC students the opportunity to participate in subject-focussed projects, join in workshops and gain valuable and employable skills such as teamwork, communication, time management and presentation.
Also a nominee for Work Experience Employer of the Year, the D5 Design team was recognised for their work with students, including enabling them to experience a true-to-life employer-led project. This fascinating opportunity ran from brief to execution including post-project critique, and helped participants to develop their skills along the way. It was also a chance to be inspired by advanced technologies such as virtual, augmented and mixed reality, and how these cutting-edge tools can be used to create interesting, informative and engaging product stories.
“Thank you to Oaklands College for choosing us as their Innovation & Creativity Partner of the Year for 2025, and we look forward the next academic year!" says Rebecca Slough, Managing Director of D5 Design. "We're all about sharing the relevance and impact of good creative science and technical communications - a vital tool for getting new innovations off the design table and out of the lab. We've had great fun running live briefs, workshops and crits with the Oaklands students. This real-world experience helps them build important toolkits that will stand them in good stead in the future, and get their ideas and innovations off the ground.”
The event brought together Oakland’s employer partners, apprentices and dedicated staff to recognise the vital role that education, training and partnership play in shaping strong, sustainable futures for young people.
